Waitlisted at Amherst…

Meh…

Meh…

Meh…

4.5/5 so far…

I’m not waiting around for them (they have offered waitlist status to 300 students, but on average only 58 spots are filled using the waitlist… and financial aid will be bad), but at least it’s not an outright rejection…

And then there was one… Tomorrow at 5 P.M. the picture will be much clearer…

Happiness is just a “Flaming Moe” away…

Sorry, nothing to go on today… Finishing scholarship forms…

When the weight of the world has got you down
And you want to end your life,
Bills to pay, a dead-end job,
And problems with the wife.
But don’t throw in the tow’l,
‘Cuz there’s a place right down the block…
Where you can drink your misery away…

At Flaming Moe’s…. (Let’s all go to Flaming Moe’s…)
When liquor in a mug (Let’s all go to Flaming Moe’s…)
Can warm you like a hug. (Flaming Moe’s…)
And happiness is just a Flaming Moe away…
Happiness is just a Flaming Moe away…

Back… I hope…

Still quite pleased over Tufts’ acceptance of me yesterday.

A lot to catch you up on from over the week that was (or wasn’t).

I got accepted to Boston University. Yes. You already knew that. But what you didn’t know was that that glorious little folder with the BU stamp on it appeared at my door on Thursday afternoon. Inside contained a nice fancy piece of paper with the words “Congratulations, you have been awarded the Boston University “University Scholar” Award.” Great. $2,500 to soften the college blow… Oh wait, what’s that? I missed a zero? That said $25,000!?!? Holy macaroni. So good, very good. Plus I’m in the honors program. Good squared.

We won a PAL game Thursday night. The greeeeeeen team wins, the greeeeeeen team wins… We should have won by forty and not five like we did, but eh, a win’s a win.

Yes, I actually followed through, was unlazy, and bought my prom bid. For once, the idea of future regret won out over cash. Don’t worry, I’ll make sure it never happens again.

Lock-in was meh. Not nearly as many people showed up as last year, and the quality was terrible, considering all but maybe 10 people ran off into a corner and fell asleep. Shot some hoops, found a new addiction in ping pong, and wandered the school… Only opened the door to the bomb shelter/tunnels… Never actually was able to follow through with the going in and all thanks to Colonel Logan Senack; the ENFORCER.

Went bowling after the lockin. Something like a 528, I don’t remember. I did have a 218 mixed in, so the other games were pretty much pure crap. But c’mon. A 218 on 26 hours of non-straight awakeness is pretty good.

Slept all day Saturday.

And a pleasant capper to the weekend. From Kyle’s info:

“Basketball Pool:
Winner - $160
Runner-up - $50
3rd place - $5

Only 5 people can win the pool…

If Oklahoma St. over Duke - Siefert
If Oklahoma St. over Uconn- Siefert
If Duke over Oklahoma St. - Learned
If Duke over G. Tech - Learned
If G. Tech over Uconn- [Me]
If G. Tech over Duke- [Me]
If Uconn over Oklahoma St. - Jake
If Uconn over G. Tech - Tres”

That’s right, for the first time ever, I’ve advanced past the second round of a basketball pool. And I’ve beat at least 38 other souls in the process.

Must commence with the scholarship finishing, as those are due on Thursday. Pray that this post stays up, because I really don’t want to type it again.

Tufts me baby!

4/4… over .500… My second choice school too… Am going to need oodles of financial aid to rank them back above BU, but this was an extremely/EXTREMELY pleasant surprise. It is my first “upper-tier” school that accepted me… Cornell will render their verdict (well announce the verdict) at 5 PM on Thursday. Amherst is next Monday I believe.

I’m ridiculously good at this… This whole college thing has gone soooo much better than I could have ever imagined… And to think; on December 15th, I had zero applications done.

Let’s try this…

29 03 2004

Here’s a rundown.

Danwa.net moved to a new server… (Yay!)
They took “The Czar!” offline so as to transfer files.
They did, and had subsequently uploaded it.
A security breach was found.
“The Czar!” was removed again.
“The Czar!” is back… for now…

Wordpress kicks…

Ahhh, finally have moved the brunt of this site over to the almighty, PHP-based Wordpress… I’m way too excited about this, but either way, it proves I know something when it comes to computers.

Some notes:

-Links will progressively be updated at my leisure.
-I’ll find some new, quick-loading but sharp-looking templates. Silver IS the new black… At least that’s the name of the new template for now…
-I haven’t fooled around with things like the “Comments” button, so feel free to try them out for yourselves.
-I’m not sure if everything is formatted right in every browser. Drop me a line if something shows up wrong.

Other than that, not much else… My motor proceeded to run for approximately fifty minutes straight in physics class, defeating Grossi’s and Kris’ who were my only competition thanks to Jeff and Kocis’ ineptitude at fastening wires and whatnot. Mine probably would have run even longer if it weren’t for Duffy deciding to see what would happen if he ran 10V of current through it.

Sacred Heart game tonight… *Sigh* Why did I bother signing up?

Sky Top and Silver Lanes tomorrow…

Try and stop me now…

Name: Mr. Zahoosapetapetalanino
Decision: Admitted to the College of Arts and Sciences
Class of 2008

Congratulations, and welcome to Boston University. From a highly talented and remarkably competitive group of applicants, you have been admitted to Boston University. The Board of Admissions believes you will be an excellent addition to the Boston University community and will take full advantage of the wide variety of academic, cultural, and extracurricular opportunities that await you here.”

3 for 3… I can’t fall behind .500 even if I get smashed by Cornell, Tufts, and Amherst… Huzzah for not being a moron!

Oh no!

… every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end… (Go having one hit, Semisonic)

So yeah, it’s over. 116 days in a row with a daily post for you to sink your teeth into. Well it’s not happening anymore. YOU PEOPLE TAKE ME FOR GRANTED!

— Uh scratch that last part…

Nah, I was really never here yesterday. Bowling occupied the 7 AM-5 PM time slot, then I moved a refrigerator up a flight of stairs (eerily similar to me pushing one up Sky Top’s stairs), and then over to Gary’s house to study for that sweet, sweet, UCONN test… Which went decent. I missed a couple things (like not realizing that radius of a cylinder is apparently the same the whole way down… I’ll chalk that up to lack of sleep) but all and all, I didn’t fail it, and I scored at least an eighty, possibly ninety, depending on whether Duffy/UConn prof is in a good mood or are willing to buy into a little of my “more fudge than a Keebler elf factory” math.

Speaking of bowling, boy did that suck yesterday… Stupid combination lanes and not having consistent equipment… The Heat is still a nice ball but is way to squirrelly on sharp backends to be real effective. We placed fairly well in teams, and I did mediocre in singles… We’ll have to wait and see all-around, but thanks to my low, low average (thank you Bill and saying I have a *cough*169*cough* average), I still placed fairly high.

Clarkson financial aid came today… A bit off of what I hoped, only 90%ish tuition and no coverage for room/board/books/food/etc. I guess it’s not too bad, but our EFC on that bloody FAFSA was bad.

And Jeff has requested that AP Physics provide us with the moment of the day. We were trying to go over a review packet on mirrors, refraction, reflection, optics, diffraction, light gradients, etc. but, surprise surprise, no one did it. So Jeff decided to take on the task of stalling Duffy…

(Natasha rambles on about some book/movie dealing with implanting chips (computer, not potato) into people’s brains)
Jeff: Oh God, what if they hacked into my brain or something, like the internet.
Adam: (mutters something about “animal porn,” and is promptly shut out of the conversation)
Jeff: Imagine if our brain was like the internet… What if the government wanted to give someone a virus… (comes to a revelation) POP-UPS! They could spread viruses through pop-ups in our brain! (begins to look paranoid)
Duffy: Jeff, now that I think of it, you know who else thinks exactly like you? The Unabomber.
