Suga, how’d you get so fly?
28 06 2006The Monday/Tuesday update.
Monday was a return after a one week hiatus to the annals of downtown poker. Sixteen people showed up for our “little” game– I managed to hang around, with no cards til the final few… I’m just damn good at playing people now I guess. So anyhoo, we’re three handed, I look down and see KK in the big blind. My arch nemesis Roooooooobbbbbbbb smooth calls me from the small blind (300-600 blinds). I bump it 4x to 2400, which is just a hair less than half my stack. He smooth calls my raise this time. Flop comes out 3-5-5. He moves all in right away from first position. I call, assuming that there is NO way a 3-5-5 flop helps the fucking kid. Turns out he called my raise with 3-5. A three, and a five. Un-freakin’-believable. So I finished 3rd, won like $90. Ten weeks in a row of cashing down there. Ten weeks in a row of being in the top 25ish percent of the players. That’s a fairly unbelievable streak, considering how much luck is involved in no-limit. I’m just hot right now!
Tuesday night was another night of bowling down at Bowl-o-Rama in Newington. Nothing special, we managed to piss away our first set this week, thanks to me throwing eight opens in 30 frames (and having 19 strikes– yes that’s right– I had 19 strikes, 5 spares, and 8 opens). Won 5/16. Next set we bowled the first place team. I swept my opponent with scores of 223-200-240, and Jesse took one of his points, but kept it close enough that we won total pins overall. Going 9-7 against the first place team is not bad. I still am mired in a bit of a slump– only averaging around 205-208 lately. I mean, I guess it says something that a slump is classified by a 205 average, but I still need to work on some things if I’m going to be up around 215-220 with Cornell this year. Might be time to take a trip to find an actual coach or something…
… and of course, aside from that– I’m still on cloud nine…
